Members of the Gregory-Portland ISD school board, will be voting soon on a proposed tax abatement agreement for this project. If this measure is approved, the new facility could bring $200 million in additional tax revenue to our school district. If the school board rejects the tax abatement agreement, and the facility is built, that tax revenue would go to the state, not our community.

The benefits of this project extend beyond local tax revenue, though. The plant would be an $8 billion to $10 billion investment in our region, and during construction, the facility will deliver $22 billion in economic gains for Texas.

The facility will create up to 11,000 construction jobs, and the estimated 600 permanent jobs would pay an average annual salary of $90,000.

Like our friends and neighbors, we want a clean environment. We also want a stronger local economy, including quality jobs and additional revenue for our school district. The Gulf Coast Growth Ventures project offers us both.
