Texas - Energy Dominance and Sustainable Solutions

Wed, July 24, 2024

Amid the summer heatwaves, Texas producers are continuing to demonstrate their commitment to support energy security for consumers locally and worldwide. Also importantly, the Lone Star State’s robust operations have set the standard for efficiency while simultaneously minimizing impact to our environment.

Recent data confirms our industry’s impact – a report from the U.S. Energy Information Administration noted the percent of natural gas production that was vented or flared in the United States decreased from 1.3% in 2018 and 2019 to approximately 0.5% in 2023, even as natural gas production increased to record levels. Texas was a key contributor in this effort, also reducing natural gas volumes vented or flared to an estimated 0.5% in 2023, resulting in an over 99% utilization of all gas produced.

This data is just one of the many examples highlighting local producers’ efforts towards a more sustainable and secure energy future for us all.
