Texas Railroad Commission Takes Further Steps to Address Flaring

Commissioners at the Railroad Commission of Texas (RRC), one of the state regulatory bodies that oversees oil and gas production, recently voted to approve draft changes that aim to reduce flaring within the Lonestar State.

 

Report: Oil and Gas Industry Continues Progress in Reducing Methane Emissions

Oil and gas companies that participated in the Environmental Partnership’s Leak Detection & Repair Program had a methane leak occurrence rate of less than 0.1%, ten times lower than U.S. EPA estimates, according to the third annual progress report released this week by the American Petroleum Institute’s Environmental Partnership.

 

Report: Orphan Well Plugging Program Could Create 120,000 Jobs

A new report from Columbia University and Resources for the Future found a potential federal government proposal to plug 500,000 orphan wells would result in up to 120,000 additional jobs.
