A new U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) assessment finds that Texas’ Eagle Ford Group contains 8.5 billion barrels of oil, 66 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of natural gas, and 1.9 billion barrels of natural gas liquids (NGLs) of undiscovered, technically recoverable resources in continuous accumulations. This makes the Eagle Ford the second largest continuous oil play in the country, behind only the massive deposits found in the Permian basin.
